Religiosity encompass our knowledge and reference of the supernatural. About 85% of humans have a strong belief in existence of Supernatural Beings, be it consciously or unconsciously. It’s a general belief that this Supernatural Being is a great spiritual entity who owns our existence and the very earth we live in. Undisputedly, our religion is not the problem but our problem really lies with our attidude.
I met a friend in recent years, we became close. I mean the type that can turn your dull day into a bright and happy one just by his unending and hilarious jokes, we practically kind of stayed together and church was his second home. No smoking, no alcohol and womanizing, I mean the strictly born again thing. I hope you get it? Even as a worker in church, I noticed he lacked forgiveness and I also felt a huge sense of pride and ego within him.
Religious transformation starts from the heart and our actions should be a reference point to our belief but when we always want to prove a point, it shows our carnal side. Character is the yardstick by which the society interpret our personality.
I had a practical experience how someone testified in the church in falsehood, knowing fully well he is lying yet he took the microphone and shouted “praise the Lord”. I was totally shocked by the act and I couldn’t stop wondering whether he took God for a joke or was he playing smart or totally ignorant of the supremacy of The Supernatural Being?
Being religious isn’t a big deal, doing it under falsehood puts us on the wrong lane. These days over-religiousness seems more like a face mask which are generally worn whenever we’re going to religious gatherings, like you can just put on the mask whenever you like and remove it at your will.
