Your love | Poem by Edidiong Etukudoh

your love to me
is no longer like
the field of well
watered flowers
for these ones
each flower do
wither and die even
‘midst the care…
your love to me
is no longer like the rains
for even this one comes
in season and even in
coming never really lasts…
your love to me
is no longer like the
pretty chirping birds
for these ones do grow
old,
forget their well learned
melodies
and then die…
your love to me
is no longer like the stream
see! the stream get polluted
with the spills of crimson red
blood at war,
gets polluted by the murk
of lifeless bodies…
your love is like nothing,
sweet nothing
an emptiness filled to the brim with sweetness; indescribable
it is not like eternity
for eternity sets a limit of time this love conquers…
