Weep not my Child by Ubong Akpabio

He stands at the street corner

Not desiring the comfort of the home

For danger haunts him deep

Into his consciousness

Sense of security denied

With selfish love in display

And  his body now a playground

With no swings and merry go rounds

But adult invention against innocence

As this monster throws a fit

To the bewilderment of the child

Weepy not my child, weep not I say

At this beast in human cloak

Deriving pleasure in having this inordinate penetration

As he exploits the child

Weep not my dear, someday

Hope beckons despite dismay.
