Crime by Sudha Dixit

I am behind  bars, for what crime – I know not

The jumble of phraseology I must rummage,

Didn’t  find any term in the legal jargon,

Actually, I am the prisoner of my own image

Traditions  and rituals  played  the cops

The  web of  piety  set the  stage

Emotional  blackmail made  me  the prey

Deified, I am virtually  in  a  cage

To  err is human but I have  no  right to err

For  I am  in the  holy book’s  page,

Compelled  to  be divine, unseen and  untouched

Put  on  a  pedestal, forced  to  be  a sage

My  only crime  is  going to  be  my rage

It’s  war against  all  restrictions, I am going to wage
