Purple by Patrick Bryant Michael

The color of love with a broken heart is dark red

bleeding

hearts

need a pick-me-up, to rid themselves of feeling dread

crying

spilling

the beans to a close friend, especially one that is dead

laughing

in spite

of how you feel, while smiling out loud on your deathbed

sensing

knowing

how others feel, better than yourself, feeling ill-fed

drinking

getting drunk

for reasons unknown by your mind, at a loggerhead

dating

enticing

a hottie to be with you, while getting a swelled head

teasing

fishing

for the best response, hoping your date is not misled

waiting

yearning

to get a text from your lover, your face could hurtle

listening

hearing

the silence before the storm, your face turning hurtful

eating

sleeping

like a cat, eyes will not close, the twilight your portal

thinking

worrying

about what will happen next, feeling ever mortal

doting

feeling

lonesome, alone, blues setting in, cut some myrtle

dreaming

seeing

ghosts of the past, hallucinations come full circle

missing

longing

to be with someone, your dreams are turning nocturnal

winning

losing

at romance, depression sets in, the color purple

learning

relearning

finding mistakes in translation, finding new insight

hurting

rainy

days make you feel better, rainbows bringing you delight

feeling dreary

getting

a cold, wallowing in self pity, loving twilight

grieving

sadness

sets in, the days get longer, your mind wants to indict

molding

letting

go of bad relationships, then go flying a kite

dancing

thunderstorms

bring winds of change, the heart and soul willfully ignite

walking

talking

about reverie, purple days fill your appetite

driving

hoping

for a better path, the road to paradise is white.
