As you swiftly walked past her, she thought you’d suddenly slow down. She thought you’d regret leaving her far behind on a dimly-lit road.
She thought you’d fear possibility of something bad happening to her while you weren’t looking. She thought and hoped till she ran out of hopes and thoughts.
She felt enveloped by darkness and a choke rose from her throat. For a moment, she prayed something bad would happen to her.
Perhaps, you’d hear her scream and finally look back. She didn’t mind getting knocked down by a car, just to get you running back to her.
She was the broken girl you left behind.
